Comments:
-
This round was the most common police cartridge in the United
States. A very accurate cartridge, the 9x29mmR is widely
used for target shooting with revolvers. With relatively
light recoil of the 9x29mmR, it is very easy to instruct a
new shooter in firing it. A lengthened version of the
9x29mmR round was developed into the
9x33mmR (.357 Magnum)
round. The round is called ".38" Special because at the
time it was developed, the diameter of the cartridge,
rather than the bullet, was used to name cartridges.
