Comments:
-
This cartridge fires the same bullet as the
9x29mmR (.38 special).
The 9x33mmR was developed from the
9x29mmR
in 1935. The casing of the 9x33mmR round is
slightly larger than the
9x29mmR
round. The extra length of the casing prevents
the 9x33mmR round from being chambered in any
9x29mmR
weapons, although the
9x29mmR
round can easily be chambered and fired from the
9x33mmR weapons. Until the development of the
10.97x33mmR
round, the 9x33mmR was the most powerful handgun
cartridge commercially available.
