This is a green signal flare.
When fired, the shell bursts at approximately 170M altitude
and releases 5 illuminating "stars" which burn for 7 to 11
seconds. The shells are used for signalling and are bright
enough to be used during the day as well as night.
This round is related to the

M664 Red Star Shell.
